Vehicle safety and fuel economy are major elements in the official Volvo Truck driver training programme. The latest vehicles in the training fleet are integrated with Monityre tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) from Safe Europe plc. The TPMS highlights the crucial role of tyre pressure monitoring to achieve these goals.
The Safe Europe Monityre TPMS is fitted in Volvo FH-420 6×2 tractor units, specified with the well known automated I-Shift gearbox. It is pulling a tri-axle Gray and Adams 13.6 metre trailer that runs at maximum weight of 44 tonnes. It is a part of Volvo Trucks’ driver training fleet, used for the CPC Driver Development Programme with major fleet operators and customers.
Volvo Trucks, Truck Evaluation Manager, Andy Collett said that within the CPC training program they also highlight fuel economy and the value of safety. This is why the tyre pressure monitoring that uses the Monityre system has become a vital element. He also said that they talk about the value of having the accurate tyre pressure on your vehicles as part of their complete fuel economy training programme.
Mr Collett also added that with the Monityre TPMS having fitted onto this Volvo tractor unit, the drivers can literally keep an eye on the display when undergoing their complete driver training tuition.
