There is no doubt that driving heavy transport vehicles from one destination to another is one of the most difficult jobs. In addition to being a difficult job, driving heavy transport vehicles can also be dangerous for all those on the roads. Road accidents are unfortunately common and can sometimes be fatal. For this reason, it is important that large vehicles like trucks are made easy to drive and handle. Fortunately, this is no longer much of a problem due to the latest technology used in these vehicles.
One of the biggest manufacturers of trucks is Volvo and the company has already taken measures to fight against any unfortunate events. These measures include the introduction of excellent technologies in Volvo trucks called LKS and ACC.
LKS (Lane Keeping Support)
This is one of the technologies included in Volvo trucks today. This kind of a system warns drivers when they are leaving a lane and is established by constantly monitoring lane markings. Usually, the LKS system gets activated when Volvo trucks with these systems reach a speed of 60mph. Drivers get an audible signal that helps them to take control of the vehicle immediately so that risk is reduced.
ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control)
The other system included in most Volvo trucks today is the ACC which calculates the proximity of Volvo trucks to any vehicle in front of them. This is done with the help of a laser or radar. Should the distance reach a preset constant, the ACC system will automatically slow down Volvo trucks to a certain speed.
With these kinds of systems installed in Volvo trucks, there is no doubt these are one of the most preferred manufacturers in the world.
