Mobile Crane Removed From Beach 03/03/2008

After over a year of lifting and manoeuvring heavy loads and weights on a Florida beach, a mobile crane manufactured by Liebherr has been removed. The mobile crane had been brought in especially for the task. The task in hand was referred to as the Tropic Winds condominium project and the mobile crane was used in what was the last major construction work to commence as reportedly the resort real estate market had suffered a freeze in 2006.

After it had been disassembled, the mobile crane will be sent away on trucks. The removal of the mobile crane reflects a major turning point for Panama City Beach in Florida, as it will mean that for the first time in a decade, there will be a total absence of mobile cranes as well as other crane model son the beach. The beach front measures around 22 miles. In the boom period of the resort, an abundance of cranes could be found on the stretch of the beach.

The Tropic Winds project has used mobile cranes to create a large scale building on the Florida seafront. The project has implemented mobile cranes since the beginning of its construction, and is a planned 164 unit high rise.
