Drug Smugglers Converting Used Trucks To Fake Fed-ex Trucks 15/01/2008

In a report by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the newest wave of criminals has taken the art of forgery to a new level. By applying fake logos and graphics of top delivery companies to used trucks such as FedEx, Wal-Mart and DirectTV, the U.S. Border Patrol have discovered everything from drugs and money to illegal aliens are crossing the bordering.
Coining the term “cloned” vehicles to gain access to the border, the report also says that the vinyl logos can be made for $6,000 or less.

In one case a “cloned” Wal-Mart truck was found to be carrying 3,058 pounds of marijuana and 204 kilograms of cocaine, driven by a man wearing a Wal-Mart uniform. It would have gone undiscovered if not for a routine traffic stop by the Texas Department of Public Safety in 2006.

Hopefully something will be done to make it very difficult to duplicate the logos of big national companies. Keeping used trucks off market for criminal use.
