The word 'trucks' covers a multitude of roadworthy vehicles. All MAN trucks follow the same basic frame consisting of a cab for the driver to sit in, a chassis, cargo hold and drive train. Trucks vary in size ranging from small automobile sized pick ups to the larger sized vehicles such as the fire engine. The majority of MAN trucks for sale in the UK are medium sized to large and use a four stroke diesel engine in addition to a turbocharger and an intercooler otherwise known as a charge air cooler. These functions increase the vehicles power by increasing the density of the air entering the engine. The smaller varieties of truck will use an automatic transmission or a syncromesh insulated within a manual transmission. Sometimes they contain synchronisers, sometimes without.

Used MAN Trucks that can be found for sale today are typically made up of steel and aluminium in their framework which is shaped with two C shaped railed held together by transverse beams. These frameworks are called ladder framers due to their likeness to a ladder. The two rails are designed with one being a long vertical part, or two if boxed, and then two shorter horizontal flanges. The height of the vertical portion balances against vertical flex when weight is applied to the top of the frame, this is known as beam resistance.
